Hi, I’m Pip The Broke Book Addict!

Nice to meet you!

You may know me from bookstagram, if so hi babes and thank you so much for taking a look at my website! If you don’t follow me on Instagram don’t worry, it’s probably for the best!

My name is Pip, I just turned 21 and I live in the UK. I have completed my first year studying to be a paramedic, however, I am taking a break to decide if it’s still for me! And while I lounge around at home I was offered the opportunity to work with Shyanne Taylor an Indie author who is currently writing her debut novel ‘A Fight Against Fate’ which is book one in her adult fantasy series ‘Triumph’. Along with our friend Lexa we have been reading through Shyanne’s manuscript and starting the editing process to get it ready to publish! This was incredibly exciting as I’m sure you can all agree; as an avid reader, it was so interesting to be on the other side of the process.

Helping Shyanne got me thinking about a few ideas for books I’ve had and while most of them are just ideas sitting in my phone’s notes section, a few have brief chapters written, vague plots thought out and the occasional title and cover are floating about. However, I wasn’t really sure where to start, everyone kept telling me to mood board (which I still haven’t done!) but I didn’t have a clue what my books looked like, and I was honestly a little scared to get started, so obviously, the only logical thing for me to do was to procrastinate! It’s a favorite pastime of mine! So to further my procrastination I created the WIP Journal.

WIP = Work in Progress

A WIP is a book or novel an author is working on or have a bit of an idea of.

I’m dyslexic, and reading, writing, and time management have always been difficult for me, but I refuse to let it get in my way! My dyslexia means I require a lot of structure to help me plan out my ideas, and I prefer to break every task down into lots of small more manageable sections; otherwise, everything becomes very overwhelming. So the main idea of my journal was founded to make it more manageable for me to write and plan my own book by breaking everything down into much smaller steps.

When I asked Shyanne and Lexa if they would want a journal to help them plan their WIPs, they practically jumped down my throat with excitement and then I didn’t really have a choice, so I got to work. What started out just as a journal to help plan a book quickly developed to include a writing section to track writing progress, then came the editing section with helpful tips and tricks I found from publishers. Next came the publishing and promoting pages, followed closely by a section to plan your time and set important dates, and then I suddenly had 200 pages and 4 different colorways! This journal consumed my life like literally consumed my life I had to put a notebook by my bed as all my ideas came to me while I slept, and I would forget them by the morning. When I finally told my family they were kind of excited but didn’t really understand (I feel like most parents are like this) and now I’m looking at the best places to produce my journal that keep in touch with my passion for sustainability and looking after the planet. I want all the paper used to be recycled, and I'm looking into the best ways to post that have the smallest amount of packaging!

Anyway, as usual, I’ve gone off on a couple of tangents, but I just wanted to say thank you so much for helping me create this dream! Even if I only sell one journal to an author as long as it helps someone it will be so worth it!

Also look out for “Flantasy, Smut and All Things Bookish” a podcast I'll be hosting with Lexa and Shyanne in the not-so-distant future!
